As well as targeting our
core audience, we also want to pull in a wider audience that don't necessarily
fit into our main demographic.
Our wider audience will
be younger than 18 or older than 26. They may be younger siblings or parents of
our core audience and may hear of our artist from the core audience members in
their family (older sisters/daughters). The younger audience may aspire to be
like our artist when they get older, and the older audience may wish that they
were young enough to be like her (she may also remind them of their youth).
They may be males who
find our artist attractive and aspire to have a girlfriend like her.
They may be middle-class
but enjoy the working-class 'edge' our artist has and aspire to be more like
her. They may also enjoy the refreshing change from the more middle-class
artists they might tend to generally listen to within the same genre of ours
like Lana Del Ray, Natasha Beddingfield or Taylor Swift.
They may be people who
generally tend to listen to other genres like rock (our artist has a 'hipster'
style which may appeal to those who enjoy rock music), hip-pop, or dance music
(our 'partying' image ties in with these genres).
