Original Artist's Webiste

Lily Allen's website, lilyallenmusic.com is very simplistic in the way that it is designed. When you enter the website, it is a plain white page with 'Lily Allen' in the middle with links around it to 'listen' to her music, 'watch' her videos and 'follow' her on social media. The simplistic design gives a light and soft introduction to her very lively music which is full of personality. It provides a nice contrast between her music and website and doesn't feel too overwhelming like it would do if it matched her music.

When you click on the 'listen' link, you come to a page of some of her album artwork in big squares in black and white. If you hover over the squares, they turn into colour and when you click on the squares you can listen to the songs that correspond with them. Not all of her songs are on here, and if people who are new to Lily Allen's music listen to the ones on the page and decide they like her, they will be tempted into buying her albums. This is a good way of promoting her music.

When you click on the 'watch' link, you come to a page where her videos are in squares just like on the listen page. This provides synergy across the website. Again, when you hover over the squares they become colour and when you click on the squares, you are able to watch the videos. This is a good way of promoting her brand/image because again, if someone was new to Lily Allen, they would be able to see her image from the videos and gather an idea of what she is about as they are listening to the music.

The 'follow' is linked to her Twitter page. This is a clever idea as people don't tend to use artist's websites to follow them anymore, most people just use Facebook and Twitter to track artists. When designing the website they obviously had this in mind because it is very simplistic and contains no information such as when an album is due out or where you can buy it; instead, people can find it all on her Twitter which the website is linked to. This is a much more sensible way of promoting her in this day and age where social media is more popular than regular websites.

At the top of the webpage, there are some more links for her YouTube, Facebook. Instagram, Google+, Soundcloud, iTunes and Spotify. Most of these are social media and again, this is a good way of promoting her brand because people are more likely to follow her on these, and Spotify and iTunes are direct links for people to listen to and purchase her music.

There is an option to join her mailing list, and this will make sure that people know about it when she releases products. This means that they are 'locked in' to her brand and will always be notified when there is something new that they can buy; therefore they are more likely to buy these things.
