By the time it came to proper lessons at the start of A2 my idea's had stayed the same about what I wanted to do in terms of song choice and video ideas. The song I had in mind already had a video that I hadn't watched until we had decided as a group to do a song completely different to the one I had in mind but the original video of the song (Daughter- Youth) wasn't based on narrative what so ever and was categorized as a "disjucture" video where the one I had thought of during the holidays fitted more w/ amplification/illustration. As the song we chose as our final song is not accompanied with a video I decided to create this blog post based on the alternative song choice. The original video for the song was filmed in a studio with a digital enhancement that strengthened the black the video which concentrated on her face and hands, the video stays like this throughout practically ignoring the conventions of structure (V & C) it also appears that base tracks aren't used and the conventions for an indie video are disregarded, In my video I was hoping to go for a more narrative based video, where the lyrics are taken quite literally, where the lyrics "if you're still breathing you're the lucky ones" is taken as the performer has died and is roaming on earth as if stuck in some sort of purgatory as she watches her friends go through life in the same way that resulted in her death- smoking, drugs, drink. Which was inspired by the lyrics "we set fire to our insides for fun" and "we are the reckless, we are the wild youth"
