Taylor Swift - Red
Taylor Swift is a pop artist; so is ours. Taylor has a very strong image, especially with her latest album, Red. Everything to do with the album; promotional material, digipak etc, are all red. A motif we have used is red cups, so I think I'd like to make red a prominent colour in my digipak and promotional material, and also possibly have a red cup on the cover or somewhere on the digipak.
One Direction - Midnight Memories
One Direction are in the pop genre, like our artist. The digipak and promotional material for One Direction's Midnight Memories is very midnight themed. Black is a prominent colour and there are stars on the actual CD, and there are also some lightning bolts on the cover of the digipak. I want my digipak to be quite opposite to Midnight Memories; I want it to be very bright and colourful. However, the whole meaning behind Midnight Memories is memories from parties late at night. Our music video is set at a party so it'd be nice to convey some of the imagery used in this digipak; possibly stars. I like the way the track list looks as if it's been typewritten on a piece of slightly crumpled paper; it gives it a cute authenticity and a quite child-like feel that makes it quite endearing. Maybe I could do something like a crayon/chalk type of font.
The Vamps - Can We Dance
The vamps are a pop-rock band; our artist is pop but on the alternative side, and so would have a similar fanbase to The Vamps. The digipak for Can We Dance is very bright and very red; exactly what I want my digipak to be. It is very simple but very striking and would immediately catch the eye; something that I feel was done on purpose because it is their debut and so people need to be able to recognise the digipak without knowing who they are. This is exactly what I need for our artist's debut. I like the very simple but noticeable text on the back and the way the blue contrasts nicely with the red. Blue is a colour I may use on my digipak.
