Location of photos for the digipak and advertisement
The reason I decided to take the photos of artist Eloise Passey in front of a blank cream wall is so that the artist stands out when I start to edit the digipak. The background of the cream coloured wall will be perfect to add text on top of.
Photo's for digipak and advertisement
These are the photo's I plan to use for my digipak and advertisement. The top group photos will be used in the inside of my digipak. These photos are actually photo's taken on the day of filming for our music video which I think will work really well as once again, the digpak will have a strong link to the music video.

Costume for digipak and advertisement photos
The costume for our artist for my digipak and advertisement will be identical to what she wears in the music video. The reason for this is because the jacket worn is a key piece to our video. The jacket helps our artist stand out because it is a vibrant and edgy jacket - therefore if the same jacket is worn for our digipak and advertisement then our audience can make a link from the video to the digipak and advertisement. The red lipstick is also important as our artist wears this in the music video, giving another link with our video to the digipak and advertisment.

Analysis of magazine advertisements
Kate Nash's album advertisement uses the same photo, colour scheme and fonts as on the front cover of her digpak. This is what all advertisments do to make the easy link from the advertisment to the album artwork.

Initial Digipak ideas
I've been thinking about how to approach this task of creating this digipak, I've already decided that I want to put my graphic skills to use in this section of this project and use it to my advantage so I've been creating some rough ideas of how I intend these to look, iv'e unintentionally tested this out in our groups Animatic and tried to look into some other ways to express our artist. As I worked on graphics I've begun to create collages for a children's book, based on the work of designer Paul Rand. I thought that this would relate to our artists image more effectively as it is simple and straightforward and also proved to be less time consuming, it also gives me a chance to incorporate a number of techniques into it instead of just Photoshop (which I'm not 100 percent confident with to start with.) As Gimp doesn't have a great variety of fonts I will do these elements of the digipack on Photoshop using the font "Awesome" which is the on featured in our video or one similar is this doesn't prove to be possible.

Digipak analysis
I have mixed feelings about the levels of success coming from this digipak. I think that the outer cover is more effective as it is standard and could be used as a real digipak, the inside however isn't as effective as the picture of the door seems out of place even though when the video is played it is an important factor. I also noticed that it is stretched and gives off a amateur feel, the recent Photoshop lesson showed us how damaging things like this can be to the overall look of a product. I clearly understood the rules on colour pallets in digipak's and tried my hardest to abide by them and I believe I managed to do so. I'll have to consider this more when we come to create our real packages because the picture of our artist makes this especially difficult, more so that I intend to create a animated version of this. I don't want to make the mistake of going overboard with colours.

Analysis of digipaks
M.I.A's album 'Kala' relates to our artist very well. M.I.A has a very similar audience to what our artist has. The reason for this is that both artist's have a very similar dress sense and attitude about them. Therefore M.I.A's album clearly relates to our artist. This album artwork is a great example to represent the artist because it is colourful and shows lots of pattern. This links well with her videos such as 'Paper Planes' where her outfit it very colourful, edgy and shows a range of patterns - just like this digipak.

Previous digipak practise
In the AS year we all had a chance to practise creating a digipak. This is my digipak practise:
This digipak practise helped me learn how to use edobe photoshop effectively. I think it turned out really well and linked well into my music video practise.

Why are digipaks important to the music industry?
- Some people like to collect digipaks
- Digipak's are more personal and suggest more of an effort has gone into the production
- Major fans like to own a hard copy of the album/single
- A digipak is nicer to own than a plastic
- They appeal to an older audience who don't like to buy music in mp3 form
